The Monday night football stage features two of the highest scoring teams in the league when the Philadelphia Eagles take on the Indianapolis Colts. Andrew Luck will lead the Colts into this game searching for their first win of the season after they lost in the Sunday night game in week one.
The Colts started the season off with the impossible task of trying to stop the Denver Broncos and Peyton Manning on their home field. The Broncos won the game, but the Colts made an admirable come back. Instead of the offense sealing the game for the Broncos it was the defense that was able to slow down Andrew Luck. They intercepted or defended seven passes by players in coverage in the final 10 minutes of the game, more than any other team since 2006. This is the main reason the Colts enter week two without a win. Unfortunately they face another high flying offense run by head coach Chip Kelly and the Eagles.
The sports betting stats support the Eagles in many situations due to an offense that put up a bunch of points in a hurry. This offense was on full display against the lowly Jacksonville Jaguars. They were taken off guard by the Jaguars who steamed out to an early lead off early turnovers by Eagles quarterback Nick Foles. Foles lost fumbles on the Eagles’ first two possessions (four dropbacks), matching his total from the 2013 season (363 dropbacks). The Eagles recovered from the early deficit and they managed to win the game by double digits and cover the big spread, a feat that looked impossible at halftime.
The sports betting stats found at ATSSTATS.com reveal some very interesting wagering angles that should be considered when sports handicapping.
