It’s tournament time, and pickings can sometimes be really slim on the front end until the games are played and the most unlikely players post big numbers and the “why didn’t I think of that” mindset creeps in.  Here’s the thing… you can play 2-3 straight low dollar value picks that go off, but if the high dollar studs your roster don’t go off – it’s all for nothing.  You have to kill it with both your value picks and your studs, it’s a cruel game, especially considering player like Mike Evans and A.J Green laid absolute eggs last week.  Here are a few potential NINJAs to consider.

QUARTERBACK – Matty Ice Melts The Competition

A few weeks back I said that Matt Ryan was going to go off… and now we find ourselves still waiting for that to happen.   With every passing week, I’ll continue to have egg on my face until Ryan goes all ninja on a team and posts a number.  The Dallas secondary is average at best and Ryan has a healthy receiving core.  This game should be back an forth and has shoot out potential, while Ryan should be low owned.  All the boxes are checked for a Ryan/Jones stack.

RUNNING BACK – Doing Dallas

I don’t’ know who’s going to get the volume here, but most likely someone will go off every week.  In a GPP you have to take some risks so it doesn’t hurt to take a shot at both Alfred Morris and McFadden to cover your bases.  I can’t in good conscience recommend Rod Smith, but your getting RB1 volume for $5400.

Orleans Darkwa is another super sneaky pick against a terrible San Francisco run defense.  Eli loves play action, and play action doesn’t work unless your RB is getting some volume… I love Darkwa to get 20 touches in this one.

With Ezekiel Elliot out – there is one less mouth to feed in Dallas, which means more targets for Cole Beasely.  He’s a true boom or bust candidate that could be fantasy gold on any given week.

With Chris Hogan out – I see another 10 catch performance from Danny AmendolaBrandin Cooks will be used to stretch  the field and in could get a couple of carries, but Amendola will live in the slot should see double-digit targets… for $5300 it’s worth a shot.

TIGHT END – Brate is Great

I love Cameron Brate on any given week, but I expect an uptick in volume this week at his current price point, which screams volume.  He’ll get a lot of low risk passes, as well as some red zone looks from back up QB Ryan Fitzpatrick.  He has check down written all over him, and could factor into garbage time as well.

DEFENSE – Jets Jets Jets

I love the Jets even though they are on the road.  They get turnovers, play a bend and don’t break style and are playing against a back up QB with no WR1 due to a Mike Evans suspension.  I can’t wait to see Tampa Bay’s approach in this one.
Good luck gamers – and take some risks this week!
