NBA DAILY PICKS 1/31:  Parody finally?  Parody Definitely

February 7th, 2018,

Des Boodram

Wow the NBA is tough.  Wednesday’s slate is a small one but I’m going to take a shot at a couple games that I feel great about.  I’m glad to be back in the win column and I intend on staying there unless of course I blow it with tonight’s matchups. The NBA is easily the most difficult of the sports to call, but I love it.   The playoffs are a great barometer for which teams are legit especially in a best of seven series, but during the season, because of how the game is played, it’s more exciting than ever.

I love how offenses are starting to run through big men again like Joel Embiid and Andre Drummond… and it’s working… and it makes game flow difficult to predict.   Defense has gotten better and though it’s still an extremely offensive game with dozens of shootout weekly, it makes it that much more exciting to watch.

Let’s get to work.  Current Record: 4-4

Detroit Pistons -9 vs Brooklyn Nets

I’ll take the action on this game with confidence.  The Nets are on their 2nd night of a back-to-back on the road against a rested Detroit team that has been crushing foes of late.  Blake Griffin makes all the difference in the world, and if you’re shooting is off forget about getting to the rim.  Andre Drummond has been a beast, and the edition of Griffin has allowed him take advantage of man-to-man coverage while obliterating the zone.  Ish Smith has stepped up his game from the outside as well, and has done well feeding both Griffin and Drummond inside.  The Piston’s don’t have a tremendous amount of depth, so early foul trouble or an injury could be a dream crusher.   I’m not counting on that happening so I’ll take the Pistons and swallow the points.

Houston Rockets at Miami Heat Over/Under 211

I love the Rockets even without Chris Paul.  The Rockets poured in the baskets on Friday night to the tune of 123 points at Brooklyn, and the Heat have started heating up from the outside as well.  I’m not buying the Rockets recent surge however, and I believe that 211 is a strategically low number to trap the bettor into taking the over.  The last time these two teams met, they didn’t even combine for 200 points and I think we are going to get the same output again.  The Rockets are playing their 2nd road game in as many nights, I know one is expecting any records tonight in this one.  Fingers crossed for no O.T… but I’m sticking to my guns…the heat is on, but I’m taking the under. 101-98 Houston.

Good Luck Gamers.
