ATS STATS NBA DAILY PICKS – February 22nd

February 22nd, 2018

Des Boodram

We are back on after the All-Star break, and I couldn’t be more ecstatic.  I fully expect to come crashing down to earth, but the NBA has been great to me, and so I want all that I can handle right now.  Before the break I went 3-0 with a tidy Miami Heat back door cover against the CAVs, a game in which the CAVs won… the All-Star game was also so kind to me as well, as we blew the OVER/UNDER out of the water, in what was the easiest call of the year thus far.  Team Steph added a back door cover over Team Lebron even though they still lost, and Devin Booker won the 3-pt contest in record fashion.  I know I’m always on the brink of disaster, and I feel that way, but as long as I keep landing on my feet, I’m going to continue to roll out my predictions… so let’s get it on for Thursday night.  (Current Record: 8-4-1)

Cleveland Cavaliers -5 vs Washingtion Wizards

I get a super charged Cavaliers team led by All-Star MVP Lebron James at home against a banged up Wizards team with know John Wall???  Yes please.  I don’t know where the CAVs will be seeded come playoff time, and I don’t know whether or not they’ll make the finals.  If they do make the finals, I really don’t know if they stand a chance against the Golden State Warriors or the Houston Rockets…but what I do know is that Lebron James has a list of C+ and B players that are ecstatic to have a shot at the championship and are ready to go to battle for him every game.

The Cavs lack some major start power, they have shooters everywhere with Jordon Clarkson, George Hill, and Rodney Hood.  All three players have improved their status instantly as they now play for an instant contender.  It’s a decent payoff for having to play in Cleveland.  Add in Larry Nance Jr. and this team is hungry and determined to make Cleveland a legit contender in the East.  Nance Jr. versatility on defense hasn’t even been unleashed yet, but it, and will be full of energy.  The Cavs defend all five positions well, and should shoot the lights out against a team that is struggling to find their identity right now.

Philadelphia 76ers -6 at Chicago Bulls

I like a ticked off Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid to pour in the points in this one.  Simmons is going to have a huge 2nd half, and it will start tonight against a Bulls team who is getting healthier by the day.  The Bulls will be with starting guard Kris Dunn who may or may not be on a minute restriction, I can’t get a straight answer.  Zach Lavine is in play as is Lauri Markkanen, but the Bulls are in full tank mode, and work in their younger players to see what they have.  The 76ers on the other hand are a couple games away from a 4-seed and play 20 of their next 27 games against teams with losing records.

I don’t like choosing home teams to cover spreads over six points, but the 76ers have a major charge to lead, and it starts tonight against the tanking Bulls.
