These will be my last thoughts about the upcoming season as a whole, but they are good thoughts, so pay listen closely. Moving forward for the rest of football season, I will cover daily fantasy football lineups including both GPP and cash games as well as season long fantasy write ups AND we will also jump in to individual game lines as I provide commentary on the World Series of Handicapping contest. Let’s look at the final week of camp/pre-season and sharpen up as we round out our draft prep. This info is crucial for DFS as well, so regardless of fantasy format, there’s some value in here for everyone.
Jerrick McKinnon Out
With 70% of all drafts in the books – McKinnon is pretty much universally owned in standard leagues. In a short while he’ll be universally dropped as he’s done for the season with a torn ACL sustained in a non-contact drill. This really hurts the 49ers more than anyone, as this is a run friendly offense that was going to rely on McKinnon. But if we’re being honest, he likely wasn’t one of the first two RBs you took, so there’s no reason to sound off the violin just yet. If McKinnon was your feature back, hopefully you are strong enough at other positions to compensate. What this does mean – is that you should go out and scoop up either Matt Breida or Alfred Morris to stash on your bench to see how they are used. I think either could have big games on any given week, and they will be dirt cheap on draft day AND in the daily game as well. This type of cheap RB value is what GPP championships are made of.
Khalil Mack to The Bears
This is great for the Bears, but they are paying this kid $20M plus per year and bankrupt their draft for the next two years. He’s good but not that good, and the Bears can no longer pay anyone, nor do they have an O-line to protect their first round pick from last season. The Bears still have to play Aaron Rodgers, Kirk Cousins and Matt Stafford twice each as well as Russell Wilson, Tom Brady, Jared Goff and Jimmy Garappolo. Don’t even think about drafting this defense.
Wentz is a no-go
Have no fear – once he gets back in there – he will be the guy… no one will blame you if your skittish about drafting him though. If your whole league fades him… pick him up as your back up. Foles is going in week one – and I wouldn’t touch him if he was the last QB available.
One Kalil Down
Panthers starting left tackle Matt Kalil is down – but I’m not fading Chrisitan McCaffery or Cam Newton or Devin Funchess – I believe all three will return value.
Senior Citizens Can Play too
Antonio Gates signed with the Chargers – but he will not be an effective season long option. Play him a GPP at your own risk. It’s not a matter of “IF” but “WHEN” will Adrian Peterson get injured. Do not draft him… leave him for the other suckers in your league.
OK Folks — It’s all line-ups and matchups from here on out!!! Crush your draft!!!
Good Luck Gamers!!
