I have been waiting for this weekend since before I even knew there was this weekend. I’m talking about week 1 of the NFL season regardless of the year… the anticipation and anxiety I feel for this once per year is something so powerful I can’t describe it in words… only metaphors. Regardless, it all comes to a head right here, all the analysis, research, social media following and writing have funneled to this one moment… for now! It’s time to pay the piper. I will keep track of my record moving forward, so let’s save our words figure out why this cash line-up is the one to go with. PS – I’m laying low on GPPs in Week 1 and will only be playing a bunch of cash games to build my bankroll. Last year my GPP recommendations were a disaster in week 1 and 2, so I’m going take a step back in the name of preservation.
QB – Matt Stafford vs New York Jets
Matthew Stafford is three fantasy points better at home than on the road and this week he gets one of the worse secondarys in the league. There are 15 week 1 QBs that did not start on the same team in week 1 of 2017. That’s half the signal callers in new systems, with new receivers and playing with a different pace. Stafford is NOT one of these QBs and I expect him to feel right at home and start slinging that ball all over the place. Other QBs will be better but for under $8K on Fanduel.
I also like Brady, Rodgers, and Tyrod Taylor
RB – Alvin Kamara vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers
In two games against the Buccaneers Alvin Kamara racked up over 250 total yards and three TDs and that was with Mark Ingram in the line up. The Saints are going to give him another 25 touches in this one and that can’t be ignored. He is the real deal and scored more fantasy points per touch than anyone in fantasy last season.
RB – Christian McCaffery vs Dallas Cowboys
This dude was eased in nicely in Carolina, but now there’s going to be a bigger role to play. In a Norv Turn run offense, I expect McCaffery to be difficult to wrangle in while being effective both running and catching football. I’m not as concerned about the speed of Dallas LBs as I am the price tag on McCaffery moving up quickly…
I also like Carlos Hyde, James White and Joe Mixon
WR – Davante Adams vs Chicago Bears
He is the next big thing in Green Bay and will see double digit targets every game on every down including in the Red Zone. I believe there will be no adjustment period for Rodgers, and that this connection will start early and often in Green Bay. At $8100 he is already priced as an elite WR.
