WORLD SERIES OF HANDICAPPING WEEK 5 CONSENSUS PICKS

By Des Boodam

It’s a new week gamers – and the contest is NOT getting any easier.  The good news is that the competition is still tight… and even though in the next 3-4 weeks the leaders will start to pull away, you can still play the game straight up without having to take uncalculated risks… as long as you can stay close.  Get your picks right, and assign the right confidence values to your picks and you will be fine.  Allow yourself to get a couple wrong with some picks that are more on the edgy side and be done.  Let’s take a look at how the field is leaning.

SEATTLE +7 vs LA RAMS

I get it!!  The Seahawks are at home in a divisional game and are getting a ton of points, and Russell Wilson is still their QB.  That’s a lot of point, and I’m willing to overlook how dominate Jared Goff and this offense has been and take Seattle and the points.  LA RAMS 31 Seattle 24

DENVER +2.5 at NY Jets

This game is scary because it seems too obvious.  The Broncos have the better defense and the better QB and even though they are on the road they seemingly shouldn’t be giving up 2.5 points.  It’s not surprise the field is all over this one, but it makes wonder what I am over looking.  Broncos 27 NY Jets 23.

ARIZONA CARDINALS +4.5 vs San Francisco

You go field… having faith in the Cardinals in this game.  I can’t think of a reason not pick the Cardinals laying over 4 points in this one.  QB play is similar… both defenses struggling.  Arizona has better playmakers on offense, which may be the difference as David Johnson can’t do it by himself.  49er defense is up and coming but this is a divisional game so expect it to be close. San Francisco 17 Arizona 13

BALTIMORE RAVENS -3 at CLEVELAND

IF the Raiders are three points better than the Browns,  the Ravens have to be right.  Again, another divisional game that should be closer than what your eyeballs are telling you it should be.  I’m taking the experience of Flacco and the tenacious Baltimore defense against a rookie QB.  Baltimore 34 Cleveland 27

OAKLAND RAIDERS +6 vs LA CHARGERS

This is a game worth targeting in the Daily Fantasy sports arena, so I totally understand especially this being a divisional game.  I expect a close one, along with a ton of points as both Philip Rivers and Derek Carr appeared to have found their strides in Week 4.  LA Chargers 38 Oakland Raiders 34.

ATLANTA FALCONS +3 vs PITTSBURGH STEELES

The Falcons have seemingly the better team here, but have been decimated by injuries on the defensive side.  Big Ben and company can ill-afford to NOT bring their A-game and may be able to pull this one out.  I like the Steelers to win straight up, but Atlanta will still cover.  Pittsburgh 35 Atlanta 34.

Good Luck Gamers.
