DFS BASKETBALL January 14th, 2019 – PLAYS THAT PAY

By Des Boodam

We had an easy cash on Sunday with several players crushing value including Nikola Jokic and Aaron Gordon.  Monday’s night slate is right in my sweet spot with 6 games.  I love me a six game slate and in the past my greatest success in both GPPs and cash games has come when there are 6 games to pilfer from.  We are still getting our feet wet on this fantasy season, and I love entering in half way through the season when there is a substantial body of work to base roster decisions off of.  I hope that  the NBA this season can go even a fraction of as well as the NFL did… but most of all I hope we can have some fun playing the DFS game responsibly.

PG –  Elfrid Payton @ LAC

Payton is a threat to score 20+ points every game and has a great matchup against the Clippers on the road.  This game should be fast pace with a lot of possession and a lot of scoring – I like Payton in this spot.

PG – Terry Rozier @ BKN

I like Rozier a lot against a terrible defensive team in the Brooklyn Nets… if Kyrie is out, his value triples, and that’s not an exaggeration – jump all over Rozier if this happens.

SG – Austin Rivers vs MEM

Rivers crushed value on Sunday night with the continued extra playing time with Chris Paul out.  I think this happens again, especially if Harden’s minutes are reduced even a little.  This is the Rocket’s first back to back game since the middle of December.

SG – Jaylen Brown @ BKN

Brown crapped the bed for me last time I played him in a cash game, but I don’t think that will happen against Brooklyn.  He’s too cheap and has way too much upside to ignore at the $4K price point

SF – Jae Crowder vs DET

Crowder isn’t a throwaway by any means and he has great matchup, but he’s always going to hover around the 22-24 fantasy points range.  His chances of going under that range are greater than going over, but at the end of the day, as far as roster construction goes – Crowder is the best fit at the SF position.

SF – Nikola Mirotic @ LAC

Mirotic was over 25 min is last time out, and was dirt cheap.  I recommend getting him now while the price is still low, because it’s going to skyrocket.  There’s plenty of minutes to go around in New Orleans and Mirotic is in a great position to score.

PF – Anthony Davis @ LAC

Maybe this game will go into OT, and although I’m not crazy about rostering three of the same teammates I do believe this game will be high scoring and close.  I hate to say it though, but the Brow needs to get us 60 points in this one to make it worth our while.

PF – LaMarcus Aldridge vs CHA

I hope I’m not chasing stats here but Aldridge had a career high in his last home game a double OT thriller where he netted 56 points.

C  – Jusuf Nurkic @ SAC

I love that Nurkic doesn’t have to go up against a legit big in this game and just like the last game they played — I expect him to go off… he will by high owned and that’s ok… his upside is huge.

Good Luck gamers!!
