MLB Odds: Division Leaders Clash When Braves Host Dodgers

With fewer than 50 games to go before the playoffs, the Los Angeles Dodgers and Atlanta Braves both have comfortable leads in their respective divisions – especially the Dodgers. They’ll be in Cobb County this Friday to open a three-game series against the Braves; first pitch is at 7:20 PM ET on the MLB Network.

The Dodgers wrapped up the weekend with a record of 79-41, best in the bigs and 18.5 games ahead of the pack in the National League West. The Braves were second on the senior circuit at 70-50, 6 games up in the NL East – but only 15-13 since the All-Star break, while Los Angeles are smoking hot at 19-8. When these two teams met back in early May at Chavez Ravine, the Dodgers swept all three games by a combined score of 23-7.

Assuming the rotations hold up, it will be Kenta Maeda (4.12 ERA) pitching for LA opposite Mike Soroka (2.32 ERA). Maeda has been steady if unspectacular, with a team record of 12-11 and the Under at 13-8-2, while Soroka is a leading NL Cy Young candidate – and a highly profitable starter with a team record of 15-6 (Under 12-8-1).
