2026 NCAAF | WEEKS 1–2 DATA REVIEW
The first two weeks of the 2026 college football season produced a clear separation between SU performance and ATS performance.
Favorites dominated outright at 121-22 SU, but covered at a lower 82-61 ATS rate. Home teams posted an 80.42% SU record while covering at 57.34% ATS. The strongest spread-band performance came from favorites laying 18.0 to 20.5 points, while the least reliable favorite group was the narrow PK to -3.0 range.
Overs finished ahead overall at 77-66, with the strongest Over results concentrated in games involving extreme spreads. At the total-market level, home-team games with totals between 47.5 and 51 points produced the best ATS record: 22-9, or 70.97%.

THE BIG PICTURE : FAVORITES VS. UNDERDOGS / HOME VS. ROAD
| Market Group | SU Record | SU % | ATS Record | ATS % | O/U Record | O/U % |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Favorites | 121-22 | 84.62% | 82-61 | 57.34% | 77-66 | 53.85% |
| Underdogs | 22-121 | 15.38% | 61-82 | 42.66% | 77-66 | 53.85% |
| Home Teams | 115-28 | 80.42% | 82-61 | 57.34% | 77-66 | 53.85% |
| Road Teams | 28-115 | 19.58% | 61-82 | 42.66% | 77-66 | 53.85% |
| Home Favorites | 107-14 | 88.43% | 71-50 | 58.68% | 64-57 | 52.89% |
| Home Underdogs | 8-14 | 36.36% | 11-11 | 50.00% | 13-9 | 59.09% |
| Road Favorites | 14-8 | 63.64% | 11-11 | 50.00% | 13-9 | 59.09% |
| Road Underdogs | 14-107 | 11.57% | 50-71 | 41.32% | 64-57 | 52.89% |
THE FAVORITE PARADOX
Favorites won 84.62% of games outright but covered only 57.34%. The 27.28-percentage-point gap confirms that SU dominance did not translate directly into ATS value.
Home favorites produced the strongest overall profile:
- 107-14 SU
- 71-50 ATS
- 58.68% ATS
- 64-57 O/U
The home-field advantage was visible, but it was also reflected in the market. Home teams won 80.42% SU while covering 57.34% ATS. The board shows dominance, not automatic value.
ROAD TEAM FAILURE, ROAD DOG SURVIVAL
Road teams were only 28-115 SU, while road underdogs went 14-107 SU. The ATS results were less extreme but remained negative:
- Road teams: 61-82 ATS
- Road underdogs: 50-71 ATS
- Road underdogs at +21 or more: 26-37 ATS
The outright result and spread result remain separate markets. A road underdog can lose by multiple scores and still outperform the closing number, but the first two weeks did not produce a positive overall ATS profile for road teams.

THE FAVORITE LADDER : WHERE CHALK CRUSHES AND WHERE IT FAILS
| Favorite Spread Band | SU | SU % | ATS | ATS % | O/U | O/U % |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| PK to -3.0 | 2-2 | 50.00% | 1-3 | 25.00% | 1-3 | 25.00% |
| -3.5 to -6.5 | 10-8 | 55.56% | 8-10 | 44.44% | 6-12 | 33.33% |
| -7.0 to -9.5 | 10-2 | 83.33% | 8-4 | 66.67% | 5-7 | 41.67% |
| -10.0 to -13.5 | 11-2 | 84.62% | 8-5 | 61.54% | 4-9 | 30.77% |
| -14.0 to -17.5 | 9-1 | 90.00% | 7-3 | 70.00% | 5-5 | 50.00% |
| -18.0 to -20.5 | 10-0 | 100.00% | 7-3 | 70.00% | 7-3 | 70.00% |
| -21.0 or More | 63-5 | 92.65% | 38-30 | 55.88% | 44-24 | 64.71% |
THE BLOWOUT BAND
The -18.0 to -20.5 favorite range was the most efficient segment on the board:
- 10-0 SU
- 7-3 ATS
- 70.00% ATS
- 7-3 O/U
This was the only favorite band with a perfect SU record and a 70% ATS performance. Favorites of -21 or more remained strong at 92.65% SU, but ATS performance declined to 55.88%.
The data suggests a correction at the highest numbers. The favorite still wins, but the spread becomes more difficult to clear consistently.
THE DEAD ZONE
Favorites between -3.5 and -6.5 went 10-8 SU and 8-10 ATS. The narrow PK to -3.0 group was worse at 1-3 ATS.
Combined:
- Favorites from PK to -6.5: 9-13 ATS
- Favorites from -7.0 to -20.5: 30-15 ATS
- Favorites of -7.0 or more: 60.00% ATS or better in every band
The early board did not support the assumption that small favorites were the safest category. The strongest ATS results came from the mid-to-large favorite bands, not the shortest prices.
UNDERDOG RESPONSE BY SPREAD
| Underdog Spread Band | SU | SU % | ATS | ATS % | O/U | O/U % |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| PK to +3.0 | 4-8 | 33.33% | 6-6 | 50.00% | 6-6 | 50.00% |
| +3.5 to +6.5 | 8-10 | 44.44% | 10-8 | 55.56% | 6-12 | 33.33% |
| +7 to +9.5 | 2-10 | 16.67% | 4-8 | 33.33% | 5-7 | 41.67% |
| +10 to +13.5 | 2-11 | 15.38% | 5-8 | 38.46% | 4-9 | 30.77% |
| +14 to +17.5 | 1-9 | 10.00% | 3-7 | 30.00% | 5-5 | 50.00% |
| +18 to +20.5 | 0-10 | 0.00% | 3-7 | 30.00% | 7-3 | 70.00% |
| +21 or More | 5-63 | 7.35% | 30-38 | 44.12% | 44-24 | 64.71% |
The underdog ATS peak came from the +3.5 to +6.5 range at 55.56%. Once the number moved beyond seven points, underdog ATS performance declined.
The extreme underdog bands produced a different result in the total market. Games involving underdogs of +18 to +20.5 went 7-3 Over, while +21 or more went 44-24 Over.
HOME VS. ROAD SPLITS
Home favorites were strongest when laying larger numbers. Home favorites of -18.0 to -20.5 went 10-0 SU and 7-3 ATS. Home favorites of -21 or more went 61-2 SU, but only 37-26 ATS.
| Home Favorite Band | SU | ATS | O/U |
|---|---|---|---|
| PK to -3.0 | 2-2 | 1-3 | 1-3 |
| -3.5 to -6.5 | 8-6 | 6-8 | 4-10 |
| -7.0 to -9.5 | 9-2 | 7-4 | 4-7 |
| -10.0 to -13.5 | 8-1 | 6-3 | 3-6 |
| -14.0 to -17.5 | 9-1 | 7-3 | 5-5 |
| -18.0 to -20.5 | 10-0 | 7-3 | 7-3 |
| -21 or More | 61-2 | 37-26 | 40-23 |
Road favorites showed a different profile:
- PK to -3.0: 5-3 ATS
- -3.5 to -6.5: 2-2 ATS
- -7 to -9.5: 1-0 ATS
- -10 to -13.5: 2-2 ATS
- -21 or more: 1-4 ATS
The road favorite result at PK to -3.0 was the sharpest location-specific side segment: 6-2 SU and 5-3 ATS. However, the road favorite profile broke down at -21 or more, where the group went 2-3 SU and 1-4 ATS.
Home underdogs produced their best result at +21 or more:
- 3-2 SU
- 4-1 ATS
- 4-1 O/U
The sample is limited, but the 80.00% ATS result was the highest among the listed home-underdog bands.
TOTAL MARKETS : OVERS, UNDERS, AND HOME TOTAL RANGES

Overall totals finished:
| Market | O/U Record | O/U % |
|---|---|---|
| Overall | 77-66 | 53.85% |
| Favorites | 77-66 | 53.85% |
| Underdogs | 77-66 | 53.85% |
| Home Teams | 77-66 | 53.85% |
| Road Teams | 77-66 | 53.85% |
The strongest Over results came in games associated with extreme spreads:
- Favorite -21 or more: 44-24 Over
- Underdog +21 or more: 44-24 Over
- Road underdog +21 or more: 40-23 Over
- Home favorite -21 or more: 40-23 Over
The data does not support a default Under position in nonconference blowouts. The first two weeks produced a positive Over record in the largest spread categories.
HOME TEAM TOTAL RANGES
| Home Team Total Range | SU | ATS | O/U |
|---|---|---|---|
| 37 to 41 | 1-0 | 0-1 | 0-1 |
| 41.5 to 44 | 1-0 | 1-0 | 0-1 |
| 44.5 to 47 | 8-4 | 7-5 | 8-4 |
| 47.5 to 51 | 27-4 | 22-9 | 17-14 |
| 51.5 to 54.0 | 30-8 | 25-13 | 19-19 |
| 54.0 or More | 48-12 | 27-33 | 33-27 |
| 60.0 or More | 10-1 | 5-6 | 5-6 |
The primary ATS total-market signal was the 47.5 to 51 range:
- 22-9 ATS
- 70.97% ATS
- 27-4 SU
The 51.5 to 54.0 range ranked second at 25-13 ATS, or 65.79%.
Once the home-team total reached 54 or more, ATS performance fell to 27-33, or 45.00%. At 60 or more, the record was 5-6 ATS.
The early board therefore separates moderate-high totals from extreme totals. The 47.5-to-54 range produced the strongest home-team ATS results, while totals of 54 or higher showed greater variance.
WEEK 3 WATCHLIST
1. TRACK PK TO -6.5
The short-favorite bands were the weakest side categories:
- PK to -3.0 favorites: 1-3 ATS
- -3.5 to -6.5 favorites: 8-10 ATS
Week 3 will show whether this is an early correction point or a repeatable market weakness.
2. MONITOR THE -18 TO -20.5 BAND
This group produced the cleanest two-week performance:
- 10-0 SU
- 7-3 ATS
- 7-3 Over
The key question is whether the band continues to outperform or begins to regress as sample size expands.
3. RESPECT THE EXTREME-SPREAD TOTAL PROFILE
Games with favorites of -21 or more went 44-24 Over. Road underdog games at +21 or more went 40-23 Over.
The Week 3 board should be separated into side analysis and total analysis. The large spread may favor the favorite SU while the total market remains supportive of an Over environment.
4. FILTER HOME TOTALS THROUGH 47.5 TO 54
Home-team totals from 47.5 to 51 and 51.5 to 54.0 combined for:
- 47-22 ATS
- 68.12% ATS
Home totals of 54 or more went 27-33 ATS. The ATS STATS board identifies the moderate-high total range as the stronger early-season segment.
5. BET UNIT FRAMEWORK
The ATS STATS framework remains:
Type of Team + Home/Away + Cycle = Bet Unit
The supplied league board provides the type and location components, but it does not include a team-specific cycle value. No unit assignment is made from league-wide results alone. Week 3 analysis should add current form, matchup context, and cycle data before determining any Bet Unit.
BOTTOM LINE
The first two weeks show three separate market conditions:
- Favorites and home teams are winning at high SU rates.
- ATS value is concentrated in specific spread and total bands.
- The largest spreads are producing strong Over results, not automatic Under conditions.
The strongest early ATS segments were:
- Favorites -18.0 to -20.5: 7-3 ATS
- Home totals 47.5 to 51: 22-9 ATS
- Home totals 51.5 to 54.0: 25-13 ATS
- Home underdogs +21 or more: 4-1 ATS
- Road favorites PK to -3.0: 5-3 ATS
The weakest segments were:
- Favorites PK to -3.0: 1-3 ATS
- Favorites -3.5 to -6.5: 8-10 ATS
- Road favorites -21 or more: 1-4 ATS
- Home-team totals 54 or more: 27-33 ATS
The ATS STATS board does not identify a universal Week 3 position. It identifies where the market has performed efficiently, where it has failed to price correctly, and which segments require additional filtering.
