Houston Rockets (-4) vs. Miami Heat (223.5) NBA Preview (11/03/2019)

The Houston Rockets will be on the road Sunday taking the court against the Heat at American Airlines Arena in Miami. Houston will be looking to bounce back from a 123-116 loss to the Nets in Brooklyn on Friday. The Heat will be looking for a third consecutive win after getting the best of the Hawks 106-97 on Thursday.

The Houston Rockets are now 3-2 on the season following a 123-116 loss to the Nets in Brooklyn their last time on the court. James Harden knocked down 10 of 31 from the field to lead the team with 36 points. Both he and Russell Westbrook were able to pass the ball for eight assists while Tyson Chandler and PJ Tucker both had eight rebounds. Houston had four players with at least 10 points in the game.

The Rockets have been good for an average of 125.6 points per game on the offensive end of the court while hitting 44.3 percent from the field. They have been able to pass the ball for an average of 25.6 assists per night while grabbing 45.2 rebounds. Defensively, they allow an average of 126.6 points per game to their opponents. Houston has been taking the ball away for 8.4 steals every time they are on the court to go along with 5.0 blocks. They will be looking to avoid a second consecutive loss.

The Miami Heat are now 4-1 on the season following a 106-97 win against the Hawks in Atlanta on Thursday. Kendrick Nunn was able to hit 10 of 15 from the field for a team-high 28 points. Jimmy Butler passed the ball around for 11 assists and also hauled in a team-high nine rebounds. Miami had five players in double figures scoring in the game,

The Heat have been able to put the ball in the net for an average of 115.6 points per game this season while shooting 47.0 from the field. Miami has passed the ball for an average of 24.8 assists per night with 47.2 rebounds. On the defensive end of the floor, Miami gives up 107.4 points per night. The Heat average 9.2 steals per game to go along with 7.0 blocks. They will be looking for a third consecutive win.

As of Saturday night, both the spread and total were off for this game. I think the Heat are going to surprise a few teams in the East this season. They are currently scoring around 10 points less per game than Houston but you have to consider the Rockets’ number is juiced right now because of the huge game in Washington less than a week ago. I think there’s still a lot of questions Houston needs to answer concerning who is shooting the ball when and how many times. I like the Heat at home here.

Houston is 1-5 SU their previous six games on the road.

Miami is 4-1 SU their previous five games.

Miami is 4-1 SU in their previous five games at home.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN? (CFL, CFB and NFL)
C.O.C. = (Chances of Covering) – The ‘C.O.C.’ percentage is based on a teams win/lost record from a ‘Point Spread’ perspective and not their ‘straight up’ (SU) record, using the teams short and long-term win/lost record. After we process it through our ‘math predictor’, we then provide a ‘CHANCES OF COVERING’ percentage for that team in their next game, which let’s you know if there’s any value on betting that team.
C.O.G.O. = (Chances Game Going OVER) – The ‘C.O.G.O.’ percentage is based on both teams OVER/UNDER record, using both teams short and long-term OVER/UNDER records. After we process it through our ‘math predictor’, we then provide a ‘CHANCES OF COVERING’ percentage for that game, which let’s you know if there’s any value on the OVER in that game.
*Note: If there’s a 60% chance of the game going OVER, that means, there’s a 40% chance of the game going UNDER.
MSV = (Market Spread Value) – The MSV is our researched and calculated line compared to the bookmaker’s line. When calculating the MSV, we look for the margin of error between the bookmaker’s line, the final result of a game and then produce the value of what the line should be in the next game for both teams.

VI = (Value Index) – The Value Index is the current psychology of the betting public, based on a teams 3-game cycle.

  • BULLISH = Team is either (3-0) in their last 3 games.
  • NEUTRAL = Team is either (1-2 or 2-3) in their last 3 games.
  • BEARISH = Team is either (0-3) in their last 3 games.

L.O.A. = (Law of Average) – The “Law of Average” edge is based on the 50/50 theory. Play on a team that lost against the spread (ATS) or straight up (SU) in their last game, vs. a team that won against the spread (ATS) or straight up (SU) in their last game.
