Los Angeles Lakers (3.5) vs. Los Angeles Clippers (223) Preview (10/22/2019)

Leave it to the NBA to come out swinging with two of the heavy hitters on opening night. The Los Angeles Lakers and the Clippers will tip-off at 10:30 on Tuesday night at the Staples Center in L.A. with what very well could be a preview of the Western Conference Finals this year.

We are a long way from any of that. Still, buckle up for what should be the best opening night the NBA has had for some time. The Lakers come into the game as three points favorites with the over/under sitting at 225.5. Both of these teams look a lot different than they did at the end of last season and Tuesday will be our first demonstration of a crazy offseason.

Lebron James just might have the best teammate he’s ever had with the addition of Anthony Davis. The Lakers sent Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart, and Lonzo Ball to New Orleans to make the deal happen. Davis will have a huge impact for the Lakers on both ends of the court, easing some of the weight from Lebron’s shoulders.

Against the Clippers, the Lakers will need as much defense as they can get. With a few big names of their own in the Clippers lineup, Los Angeles will spend plenty of time sprinting on both ends of the floor. Did you catch that?

Lebron will spend time running the point this season, something I expect to happen right from the jump on Tuesday. I anticipate a lot of pick and roll action with long-range man Danny Green getting a ton of open looks as a result.

There are still a ton of questions left to be answered by the Lakes this year. How is everyone going to mesh? Who takes the last shot when they are down a point or two with seconds left? One thing is for certain. If the lakers want to start the season 1-0, it’s going to be a team effort on both ends of the court.

The Los Angeles Clippers may have been the biggest winners of the offseason with the addition of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, a move not many people saw taking place 12 hours before it went down. They are now the favorites by many to win the NBA title this year. That being said, until it happens, every move will be scrutinized, especially if they end up taking a loss on opening night.

Neither Leonard or George are interested in being the other team in Los Angeles. Any less than a Conference Championship will be a failure. There’s no more rebuilding. The blocks are firmly in place.

This is game one of a long season for two teams. Two teams from one city, both with the same goal. The hardest thing to remember is the season isn’t going to end tomorrow night. Besides, how much of a difference would one game make at the end of the year when it comes to deciding home-court advantage between these two? I’m liking the total going over 225.5 in this one.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN? (CFL, CFB and NFL)
C.O.C. = (Chances of Covering) – The ‘C.O.C.’ percentage is based on a teams win/lost record from a ‘Point Spread’ perspective and not their ‘straight up’ (SU) record, using the teams short and long-term win/lost record. After we process it through our ‘math predictor’, we then provide a ‘CHANCES OF COVERING’ percentage for that team in their next game, which let’s you know if there’s any value on betting that team.
C.O.G.O. = (Chances Game Going OVER) – The ‘C.O.G.O.’ percentage is based on both teams OVER/UNDER record, using both teams short and long-term OVER/UNDER records. After we process it through our ‘math predictor’, we then provide a ‘CHANCES OF COVERING’ percentage for that game, which let’s you know if there’s any value on the OVER in that game.
*Note: If there’s a 60% chance of the game going OVER, that means, there’s a 40% chance of the game going UNDER.
MSV = (Market Spread Value) – The MSV is our researched and calculated line compared to the bookmaker’s line. When calculating the MSV, we look for the margin of error between the bookmaker’s line, the final result of a game and then produce the value of what the line should be in the next game for both teams.VI = (Value Index) – The Value Index is the current psychology of the betting public, based on a teams 3-game cycle.

  • BULLISH = Team is either (3-0) in their last 3 games.
  • NEUTRAL = Team is either (1-2 or 2-3) in their last 3 games.
  • BEARISH = Team is either (0-3) in their last 3 games.

L.O.A. = (Law of Average) – The “Law of Average” edge is based on the 50/50 theory. Play on a team that lost against the spread (ATS) or straight up (SU) in their last game, vs. a team that won against the spread (ATS) or straight up (SU) in their last game.
