San Antonio Spurs
San Antonio will come into Monday’s game at 10-15 following a 121-119 win in overtime against the Phoenix Suns. Patty Mills was able to knock down 10 of 23 from the field to lead the Spurs with 26 points. Dejounte Murray passed the ball for a team-high five assists while Jakob Poeltl pulled down 11 rebounds. San Antonio had six different players finish the game with at least 10 points.
The Spurs have been good for an average of 111.9 points per game on the offensive end of the court while hitting 46.3 percent from the field. They have been able to pass the ball for an average of 24.3 assists per night while grabbing 46.3 rebounds. Defensively, they allow an average of 115.6 points per game to their opponents. San Antonio has been taking the ball away for 6.7 steals every time they are on the court to go along with 5.8 blocks. They will be looking for a second win in a row.
Houston will take the court at 17-9 on the season following a 115-107 loss at home against the Detroit Pistons. James Harden connected on 14 of 33 from the field to lead the Rockets with 39 points while passing the ball for a team-high seven assists. Clint Capela cleaned the glass with 19 rebounds. Houston had five different players finish the game with a double-digit scoring night.
The Rockets have been able to put the ball in the net for an average of 120.1 points per game this season while shooting 45.1 from the field. Houston has passed the ball for an average of 21.7 assists per night with 47.7 rebounds. On the defensive end of the floor, Houston gives up 114.6 points per night. The Rockets average 8.5 steals per game to go along with 5.1 blocks. They will be looking to avoid back-to-back losses.
The Houston Rockets will tip off as 10 point favorites with the total sitting at 231 and a half. Neither of these teams is exactly known for playing tight defense. They’re both giving up around 115 points per game and I think Harden is due for another 50 point game following the loss to Detroit. I won’t be surprised if San Antonio covers this spread, but my money’s on the total going over 231 and a half.
The total has gone over in four of San Antonio’s previous five games.
The total has gone over in four of Houston’s previous six games played on a Monday.
