Boston Bruins (-110) vs. Colorado Avalanche (5.5) Preview & Prediction (10/10/2019)

The Boston Bruins will be looking to remain unbeaten on the season when they take the ice against the Avalanche Thursday at the Pepsi Center in Denver. Boston is coming off what may be their most impressive win of the season, beating the Las Vegas Golden Knights 4-3 on Tuesday night.

Colorado is also undefeated in 2019 following a 4-2 win against Minnesota last Saturday. The Avalanche have been impressive with the sticks this season, scoring nine goals in two games. They will need to lace the skates up tight against the Boston defense on Thursday.

The Bruins are now 3-0-0 after getting the best of Las Vegas on Tuesday. They finally showed some fire on the offensive end of the ice after just three goals in their first two games. Boston was able to outshoot the Knights 35-34 and won the faceoff battle 36-28. They found the net on one of their power-play opportunities while giving up two goals three of the times they were forced to skate short-handed.

After trailing 0-2, the Bruins were able to get on the board with a goal from David Pastrnak at 11:21 in the first period. Brad Marchand was able to find the net twice in the game, once at 18:58 in the first period and again just 33 seconds into the second. Torey Krug wrapped up the scoring for Boston at 2:27 in the third period.

Tuukka Rask was between the pipes with 31 saves on 34 shots. Marchand currently leads the Bruins with four points, three of them coming from goals.

The Colorado Avalanche haven’t been too bad themselves this year at 2-0-0. They haven’t played since last Saturday when they had a 4-2 win over the Minnesota Wild. The Av’s outshot Minnesota 32-31 but were only able to win 27 of 59 faceoffs. Colorado had six power-play opportunities, lighting the lantern on one of them. They gave up one goal the four times they skated shorthanded.

Mikko Rantanen got things started off with a goal at 4:30 in the first. Pierre-Edouard Bellemare put the puck in the net just 1:37 later. Gabriel Landeskog scored a goal at 18:54 in the second and Ryan Graves added one at 19:20 in the third, just for good measure.

Philipp Grubauer was in the net with 29 saves on 31 shots. Mikko Rantanen leads the team through two games with four points, three of them coming from putting the puck in the net himself.

The Boston Bruins have been good for 2.33 goals per game while holding opponents to just 1.33. Colorado has found the net for 4.50 goals per game while allowing 2.50. Boston is getting off 27 shots while the Avalanche have been firing 32. Only one of these two can win and it has the makings of a great game.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN? (NBA,NHL & MLB)
C.O.W. = (Chances of Winning) – The ‘C.O.W.’ percentage is based on a teams win/lost record using their short and long-term win/lost record. After we process it through our ‘math predictor’, we then provide a ‘CHANCES OF WINNING’ percentage for their next game, which let’s you know if there’s any value on betting that team.

C.O.G.O. = (Chances Game Going OVER) – The ‘C.O.G.O.’ percentage is based on both teams OVER/UNDER record, using both teams short and long-term OVER/UNDER records. After we process it through our ‘math predictor’, we then provide a ‘CHANCES OF COVERING’ percentage for that game, which let’s you know if there’s any value on the OVER in that game.
*Note: If there’s a 60% chance of the game going OVER, that means, there’s a 40% chance of the game going UNDER.

DMVI = (Daily Market Value Index) – The DMVI is our researched and calculated line compared to the bookmaker’s line. When calculating the DMVI, we look for the margin of error between the bookmaker’s line, the final result of a game and then produce the value of what the line should be in the next game for both teams. The DMVI is a tool to find value vs. the current line.

VI = (Value Index) – The Value Index is the current psychology of the betting public, based on a teams 7-game cycle.

  • BULLISH = Team is either (7-0, 6-1, or 5-2) in their last 7 games.
  • NEUTRAL = Team is either (3-4 or 4-3) in their last 7 games.
  • BEARISH = Team is either (0-7, 1-6 or 2-5) in their last 7 games.

L.O.A. = (Law of Average) – The “Law of Average” edge is based on the 50/50 theory. Play on a team that lost against the spread (ATS) or straight up (SU) in their last game, vs. a team that won against the spread (ATS) or straight up (SU) in their last game.
