The Boston Bruins will be on the road Monday taking the ice against the Senators at Canadian Tire Center in Ottawa. The Bruins will be looking to end a two-game skid after losing 4-1 at home against Colorado on Saturday. The Senators will be looking for their second win in three games following a 3-4 loss against the Flyers in Philadelphia their last time on the ice.
The Boston Bruins are now 20-4-6 on the year following a 1-4 loss at home against the Colorado Avalanche. Both teams were able to fire 20 shots in the game with the Bruins winning just 15 of 37 faceoffs. Boston was unable to score on any of their three power-play opportunities while defending the net the one time they were forced to skate with a man in the box. They had 10 blocked shots and 10 takeaways in the game.
The Bruins have been good for an average of 3.50 goals per game this season while giving up 2.30 to their opponents. They have been able to fire 31.2 shots per game while allowing 31.3 on the defensive end of the ice. Boston has scored 25 power-play goals for a 28.4 conversion rate to go with an 84.4 penalty kill percentage.
The Ottawa Senators are now 12-17-1 following a 4-3 loss against the Flyers in Philadelphia. Ottawa was able to outshoot the Flyers 30-21 in the game while winning just 24 of 52 faceoffs. The Senators were unable to score a power-play on any of their three power-play opportunities while defending the net both of the times they were forced to skate shorthanded. They had six blocked shots and two takeaways in the game.
Ottawa has been able to find the back of the net for an average of 2.63 goals per game for the season while giving up 3.13 to their opponents. They have been able to fire an average of 30.2 shots per game while allowing 31.9 on the defensive end of the ice. They have nine power-play goals this season for a 9.6 conversion rate to go with an 82.4 penalty kill percentage.
The Bruins will take the ice as -185 favorites with Ottawa skating in as 160 underdogs. The total is sitting at six on the game. I’m really liking the payback on the Bruins puck line at minus a goal and a half. They are stronger on both ends of the ice with higher percentages on both the power-play and the penalty kill. Boston has had a rough go of it in their last two games but I think playing the Senators gives them a perfect opportunity to get things back on track with a win on the road. I like Boston winning in Ottawa by at least two goals.
