Carolina Hurricanes (-155) vs. Los Angeles Kings (6.5) Preview & Prediction (10/15/2019)

BetNow Sportsbook

The Carolina Hurricanes will be in Los Angeles on Tuesday night taking the ice against the Kings at Staples Center. Carolina will be looking to bounce back from their first loss of the season, 2-3 against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

The Los Angeles Kings will be looking to regroup after coming up short 2-5 at home against the Las Vegas Golden Knights 2-5 last Sunday. Los Angeles has been winning every other game this season and need a win at home on Tuesday to be sitting at .500 on the year.

The Carolina Hurricanes suffered their first loss of the season on Saturday 2-3 at home against the Blue Jackets. Carolina was outshot in the game 32-35 but managed to win the faceoff battle 29-34. They were given three power-play opportunities but were unable to convert on any of them. They were able to defend the goal each of the three times they were forced to skate with a man in the box. The Hurricanes had 10 blocked shots and nine takeaways in the game.

The Hurricanes have been able to score an average of 3.83 goals per game this season while giving up just 2.67. They have been able to fire an average of 37 shots while giving up 31.2 per night on the defensive end of the ice. They have converted 25 percent of their power-play opportunities for five goals this year and have a 77.8 penalty kill percentage. Tuesday night should be a great opportunity to increase their number of goals per game.

The Los Angeles Kings will be looking to bounce back from a 2-5 loss at home against the Las Vegas Knights on Sunday. The Kings were able to outshoot the Knights 38-36 but only managed to win 25 of 65 faceoffs. They were kept out of the net on each of their three power-play opportunities and gave up a goal each of the three times they were forced to skate shorthanded. They had 10 blocked shots and a takeaway in the game.

On the season, the Los Angeles Kings have been able to score an average of four goals per game. The problem is, they are giving up 5.20 goals per night. They have been able to fire 37.4 shots while giving up 30.6 to the opposition. They have only scored on two of their power-play opportunities this year with a penalty kill percentage of just 56.3. The Kings will need to tighten up the skates on defense if they want to get the win against Carolina,

Easier said than done. The Hurricanes will come into this one heavily favored at -153. They are getting off an average of 37 shots per game. I like the odds of five or six of those touching the nylon against a defense with as many issues as the Kings have. I’m going Carolina all the way on this one.

NHL Stats and Trends:

  • Carolina is 6-0 previous six against an opponent who gives up at least five goals in their previous game.
  • Carolina is 4-0 previous four games vs. Pacific Division.’
  • Carolina is 5-0 previous five games as a favorite on the road.
  • Los Angeles is 3-10 previous 13 games vs. opponent with a winning percentage over 600.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN? (NBA,NHL & MLB)
C.O.W. = (Chances of Winning) – The ‘C.O.W.’ percentage is based on a teams win/lost record using their short and long-term win/lost record. After we process it through our ‘math predictor’, we then provide a ‘CHANCES OF WINNING’ percentage for their next game, which let’s you know if there’s any value on betting that team.

C.O.G.O. = (Chances Game Going OVER) – The ‘C.O.G.O.’ percentage is based on both teams OVER/UNDER record, using both teams short and long-term OVER/UNDER records. After we process it through our ‘math predictor’, we then provide a ‘CHANCES OF COVERING’ percentage for that game, which let’s you know if there’s any value on the OVER in that game.
*Note: If there’s a 60% chance of the game going OVER, that means, there’s a 40% chance of the game going UNDER.

DMVI = (Daily Market Value Index) – The DMVI is our researched and calculated line compared to the bookmaker’s line. When calculating the DMVI, we look for the margin of error between the bookmaker’s line, the final result of a game and then produce the value of what the line should be in the next game for both teams. The DMVI is a tool to find value vs. the current line.

VI = (Value Index) – The Value Index is the current psychology of the betting public, based on a teams 7-game cycle.

  • BULLISH = Team is either (7-0, 6-1, or 5-2) in their last 7 games.
  • NEUTRAL = Team is either (3-4 or 4-3) in their last 7 games.
  • BEARISH = Team is either (0-7, 1-6 or 2-5) in their last 7 games.

L.O.A. = (Law of Average) – The “Law of Average” edge is based on the 50/50 theory. Play on a team that lost against the spread (ATS) or straight up (SU) in their last game, vs. a team that won against the spread (ATS) or straight up (SU) in their last game.
