The New York Islanders will be on the road in Winnipeg on Thursday taking the ice against the Jets. The Islanders will be looking for a third consecutive win getting the best of the St. Louis Blues on Monday, 3-2.
Winnipeg will be looking to put the brakes on a two-game skid after losing 2-4 at home against the Arizona Coyotes Tuesday night. There’s a good chance they will need to score more than two goals in order to get things done at home on Thursday.
The New York Islanders are now 3-3-0 on the season following a 3-2 win in overtime against the St. Louis Blues their last time on the ice. New York outshot the St. Louis 32-23 in the game but only managed to win 22 of 57 faceoffs. They were held scoreless on their one power-play opportunity and gave up a goal one of the two times they were forced to skate a man down. The Islanders had 18 blocked shots and nine takeaways in the game.
On the season, New York has been good for an average of 2.33 goals per game while giving up 2.83 to their opponents. They have been able to take 27.5 shots while allowing 31.8 on the defensive end of the ice. The Islanders have completed 27.3 percent of their power-play opportunities with three goals with a 75.0 penalty kill percentage.
The Winnipeg Jets are also .500 on the season after losing 2-4 at home against the Arizona Coyotes. The Jets outshot the Coyotes 35-40 while winning the faceoff battle 28-29. They were given six power-play opportunities in the game and found the back of the net on two of them. They gave up a goal both of the two times they skated with a man in the box. Winnipeg had four blocked shots and five takeaways in the game.
The Jets have been able to put the puck in the net for an average of 3.13 goals per game while giving up 3.75 to the opposition. They have been able to take an average of 33.6 shots per night while allowing 34.3 on the defensive end of the ice. Winnipeg has just an 18.5 conversion percentage with five goals on the power-play this season to go with a 60.0 penalty kill percentage.
The Winnipeg Jets are favored in this game at -125. They have been able to score more goals per game this season but also give up a higher number. They average a higher number of shots but also allow more to be taken by their opponents. When you figure in both of these teams need a win here just to stay at .500 on the season, I like the chance of a bigger payout with the underdog. I’m taking the Islanders on the road in this one.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN? (NBA,NHL & MLB)
C.O.W. = (Chances of Winning) – The ‘C.O.W.’ percentage is based on a teams win/lost record using their short and long-term win/lost record. After we process it through our ‘math predictor’, we then provide a ‘CHANCES OF WINNING’ percentage for their next game, which let’s you know if there’s any value on betting that team.
C.O.G.O. = (Chances Game Going OVER) – The ‘C.O.G.O.’ percentage is based on both teams OVER/UNDER record, using both teams short and long-term OVER/UNDER records. After we process it through our ‘math predictor’, we then provide a ‘CHANCES OF COVERING’ percentage for that game, which let’s you know if there’s any value on the OVER in that game.
*Note: If there’s a 60% chance of the game going OVER, that means, there’s a 40% chance of the game going UNDER.
DMVI = (Daily Market Value Index) – The DMVI is our researched and calculated line compared to the bookmaker’s line. When calculating the DMVI, we look for the margin of error between the bookmaker’s line, the final result of a game and then produce the value of what the line should be in the next game for both teams. The DMVI is a tool to find value vs. the current line.
VI = (Value Index) – The Value Index is the current psychology of the betting public, based on a teams 7-game cycle.
BULLISH = Team is either (7-0, 6-1, or 5-2) in their last 7 games.

L.O.A. = (Law of Average) – The “Law of Average” edge is based on the 50/50 theory. Play on a team that lost against the spread (ATS) or straight up (SU) in their last game, vs. a team that won against the spread (ATS) or straight up (SU) in their last game.
