St Louis Blues (-118) vs. New York Islanders (5.5) Preview & Prediction (10/14/2019)

The St Louis Blues will be in New York on Monday afternoon taking the ice against the Islanders at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. The Blues will be looking to rebound from a 6-3 loss in Montreal on Saturday.

The Islanders will be looking to gain some positive momentum after getting a 3-2 win against the Florida Panthers their last time on the ice. New York has yet to win back-to-back games this year. A win would also put them at .500 for the season.

The St. Louis Blues are now 3-1-1 after losing 3-6 in Montreal to the Canadiens on Saturday. They were outshot 28-38 in the game but managed to win 39 of 60 faceoffs. The Blues were able to find the back of the net on one of their two power-play opportunities and defended the net each of the four times they were forced to skate with a man in the box. St. Louis had 20 blocked shots and seven takeaways in the game.

Brayden Schenn was able to knot the game up at one when he scored at 17:57 in the first period. After the Blues fell behind a second time, Sammy Blais tied things up again with a goal at 1:05 in the second. Vince Dunn gave the Blues the lead with his goal at 12:50 in the second. The lead was short-lived, though, and St. Louis wasn’t able to keep up with Montreal.

Vladimir Taresenko led the team with two assists. Jay Bouwmeester, Jaden Schwarz, and Brayden Schenn each had an assist of their own. Jordan Binnington was between the pipes with 32 saves on 37 shots. Ryan O’Reilly leads the team with seven points, six of them coming off assists.

The New York Islanders will be looking for a second win in a row after beating the Panthers 3-2 on Saturday. New York was outshot 37-28 and they only won 28 of 60 faceoffs. Still, they did enough to get the win. The Islanders had one power-play opportunity but failed to score a goal. They were able to defend the net each of the three times they had to skate shorthanded.

Anders Lee was able to light up the lantern at 5:40 in the second period. Josh Bailey was able to find the net in the same period. After a scoreless overtime period, Brock Nelson scored the game-winner in the shootout. Semyon Varlamov was in the net for New York with 35 saves on 37 shots. Josh Bailey and Anthony Beauvillier lead the team with four points.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN? (NBA,NHL & MLB)
C.O.W. = (Chances of Winning) – The ‘C.O.W.’ percentage is based on a teams win/lost record using their short and long-term win/lost record. After we process it through our ‘math predictor’, we then provide a ‘CHANCES OF WINNING’ percentage for their next game, which let’s you know if there’s any value on betting that team.

C.O.G.O. = (Chances Game Going OVER) – The ‘C.O.G.O.’ percentage is based on both teams OVER/UNDER record, using both teams short and long-term OVER/UNDER records. After we process it through our ‘math predictor’, we then provide a ‘CHANCES OF COVERING’ percentage for that game, which let’s you know if there’s any value on the OVER in that game.
*Note: If there’s a 60% chance of the game going OVER, that means, there’s a 40% chance of the game going UNDER.

DMVI = (Daily Market Value Index) – The DMVI is our researched and calculated line compared to the bookmaker’s line. When calculating the DMVI, we look for the margin of error between the bookmaker’s line, the final result of a game and then produce the value of what the line should be in the next game for both teams. The DMVI is a tool to find value vs. the current line.

VI = (Value Index) – The Value Index is the current psychology of the betting public, based on a teams 7-game cycle.

  • BULLISH = Team is either (7-0, 6-1, or 5-2) in their last 7 games.
  • NEUTRAL = Team is either (3-4 or 4-3) in their last 7 games.
  • BEARISH = Team is either (0-7, 1-6 or 2-5) in their last 7 games.

L.O.A. = (Law of Average) – The “Law of Average” edge is based on the 50/50 theory. Play on a team that lost against the spread (ATS) or straight up (SU) in their last game, vs. a team that won against the spread (ATS) or straight up (SU) in their last game.
