Raymond Report MVI Chart: Bullish, Bearish & Neutral MLB Teams : August 22, 2026

RAYMOND REPORT | MLB MARKET VALUE INDEX | AUGUST 22, 2026

The Raymond Report Market Value Index (MVI) classifies MLB teams through a combined value signal built from market price, recent form, streaks, win rate, and model confidence. The objective is not to rank teams by record alone. It is to identify where current performance and market pricing are aligned, diverging, or moving through a short-term cycle.

The August 22 chart contains 30 MLB teams:

  • 6 BULLISH teams
  • 8 BEARISH teams
  • 16 NEUTRAL teams
  • 2 Grade A teams
  • 13 Grade B teams
  • 15 Grade C teams

The chart’s most significant signal is Philadelphia: a 7-0 L7G record, a seven-game winning streak, and 100% confidence. Milwaukee and Los Angeles remain the Grade A market leaders, while Kansas City and the New York Mets represent the strongest lower-record value momentum.

The DMVI is the daily market-value comparison. Negative DMVI values indicate that the market price is steeper than the value signal, described as bullish-priced. Positive DMVI values show the market price lagging behind the value signal.

BULLISH MLB TEAMS

The bullish group includes elite teams holding form, high-confidence teams on active streaks, and lower-ranked clubs producing a value-momentum signal.

Team Grade W-L GP WIN% Market Value L7G Streak Confidence DMVI
Milwaukee A 80-49 129 62% -220 5-2 2W 71% -154
Los Angeles A 78-51 129 60% -210 5-2 4W 71% -206
NY Yankees B 73-55 128 57% -170 5-2 5W 71% -175
Philadelphia B 71-58 129 55% -160 7-0 7W 100% -154
NY Mets C 57-69 126 45% +200 5-2 1L 71% +165
Kansas City C 56-74 130 43% +210 6-1 6W 85% +158

Philadelphia: Primary MVI Headline

Philadelphia is the strongest short-term signal on the board. The Phillies are 71-58 overall, but the MVI profile is driven by a perfect 7-0 L7G record, a 7W streak, and 100% confidence. The team’s 55% season WIN% is below the Grade A leaders, yet current momentum has moved the club into the top bullish tier.

The -160 Market Value and -154 DMVI are closely aligned. That indicates a bullish profile without a major price-to-signal gap. Philadelphia is the clearest example of the MVI identifying current-cycle strength beyond the season record.

Grade A Hold: Milwaukee and Los Angeles

Milwaukee leads the chart with an 80-49 record and a 62% WIN%. The Brewers are 5-2 over their last seven games and carry a 2W streak with 71% confidence. The -220 Market Value is supported by a -154 DMVI, maintaining a bullish classification.

Los Angeles is 78-51 with a 60% WIN%, a 5-2 L7G record, a 4W streak, and 71% confidence. Its -210 Market Value and -206 DMVI are closely matched. The Dodgers therefore register as both high-grade and high-consistency rather than relying on a short-term spike alone.

Value Momentum: Kansas City and NY Mets

Kansas City is the strongest lower-half record signal. The Royals are 56-74 with a 43% WIN%, but the current cycle is 6-1 with a six-game winning streak and 85% confidence. At +210, the market value remains in underdog territory while the +158 DMVI indicates that the value signal is stronger than the current market price suggests.

The NY Mets show a similar structure: 57-69 overall, 45% WIN%, 5-2 L7G, and 71% confidence. The current 1L streak interrupts the broader seven-game sample but does not erase the bullish classification. Both teams are examples of MVI momentum moving before season-long results fully reflect the change.

BEARISH MLB TEAMS

The bearish classification is concentrated in two categories: winning teams experiencing a negative short-term cycle and lower-tier teams with weak recent results, low confidence, or both.

Team Grade W-L GP WIN% Market Value L7G Streak Confidence DMVI
Tampa Bay B 76-52 128 59% -200 2-5 2L 28% -162
Atlanta B 74-53 127 58% -190 2-5 1L 28% -145
Detroit C 61-66 127 48% +130 1-6 3L 14% +107
Washington C 61-69 130 47% +170 1-6 2L 14% +144
Cincinnati C 61-68 129 47% +170 2-5 2L 28% +127
San Francisco C 51-76 127 40% +220 2-5 2L 28% +171
Colorado C 50-77 127 39% +240 2-5 4L 28% +178
Oakland C 49-80 129 38% +250 1-6 5L 14% +201

Winning Records, Bearish Cycle

Tampa Bay and Atlanta are the key contrarian signals. Both are Grade B teams with winning records and WIN% figures above 58%. However, both are 2-5 across the last seven games and carry only 28% confidence.

Tampa Bay’s -200 Market Value compares with a -162 DMVI. Atlanta’s -190 Market Value compares with a -145 DMVI. The negative DMVI values show that both clubs remain priced as established contenders while their recent value signals have weakened. This is the classic MVI divergence: season strength remains visible, but current-cycle support has deteriorated.

The Danger Zone

Oakland has the weakest overall profile in the chart: 49-80, a 38% WIN%, 1-6 L7G, a five-game losing streak, and 14% confidence. Its +250 Market Value and +201 DMVI identify a wide positive-price environment with a bearish performance signal.

Colorado is 2-5 over its last seven and has lost four straight. San Francisco is also 2-5 with a 2L streak. Detroit and Washington each show a 1-6 L7G record with 14% confidence. Cincinnati is 2-5 with 28% confidence. These teams form the primary bearish cluster: negative recent form, limited confidence, and positive DMVI values.

NEUTRAL MLB TEAMS

Neutral teams require matchup, price, and situational confirmation. Their MVI readings do not establish a clear directional edge on the August 22 chart.

Los Angeles Angels C 51-78 129 40% +220 3-4 1L 42% +174

The neutral group includes contenders with mixed recent results and lower-tier teams without a confirmed directional trend. St. Louis is the largest DMVI outlier in the group, with a -110 Market Value and +133 DMVI. Toronto and Pittsburgh also post positive DMVI figures above +130, while Cleveland has a -130 DMVI despite a +110 Market Value.

The Chicago Cubs, Boston, San Diego, Arizona, and Chicago White Sox remain closer to market alignment. Their L7G records range from 3-4 to 4-3, with confidence between 42% and 57%.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  1. Philadelphia is the primary bullish signal: 7-0 L7G, 7W, 100% confidence, and a -154 DMVI.
  2. Milwaukee and Los Angeles remain the elite hold: both Grade A, both 5-2 over the last seven, both at 71% confidence.
  3. Tampa Bay and Atlanta are bearish divergences: winning records, but 2-5 L7G and only 28% confidence.
  4. Kansas City is the strongest value-momentum riser: 6-1 L7G, six-game streak, 85% confidence.
  5. The principal danger zone is Oakland, Colorado, Detroit, Washington, San Francisco, and Cincinnati.
  6. Positive DMVI requires price review: the market may be lagging the value signal, but recent performance and matchup context remain necessary filters.
  7. Neutral teams require confirmation: use the MLB ATS reports to review team-specific trends, streaks, O/U data, and current market information.

WHAT TO WATCH NEXT

The next MVI update should focus on whether Philadelphia sustains its perfect L7G cycle, whether Kansas City continues converting value momentum into wins, and whether Tampa Bay or Atlanta can reverse their bearish trend.

The Grade A teams remain the benchmark. The lower-half bullish teams are the change-of-direction indicators. The bearish cluster requires evidence of stabilization before its MVI classification can improve.
