NBA DAILY PICKS – Taking the Good with the Bad

February 28th, 2018

Des Boodram

OK – I’ve spent the last few days making a deal with myself that I’m also going to pass onto you.  The deal is that I’m not going to dwell on either my bad beats OR my big wins, unless humanly necessary.   So deal right??  And with that we are going to ignore my 1-3 weekend after going 4-0 the previous weekend.

Maybe at the end of the day it all balances out, or perhaps the house always wins, I have no idea, but I know there’s a game to play, and I’m here to play it to the best of my ability.  I’m going to grind it out every day of every week to make these final 26 games the best experience of our gambling lives.

Of course I understand the best experience involves my choices being right and you actually winning, but I am committed to giving it my very best shot.  Let’s make it happen.  (Current Record 9-9-1)

Washington Wizards +9 vs Golden State Warriors

The Wizards get the Dubs at home and get nine points???   Sign me up.  The Wizards are 10-2 since John Wall went out before the all-star break, and have been beating the hell out of good teams, and have barely lost in their losses.  The Wizards are remarkably better when Bradley Beal runs this offense, and although they don’t have the firepower to matchup with the Warriors, the Wizards have the size, athleticism and depth to keep up especially at home.  Washington has had a history of playing playoff contenders super tough recently, and I believe this game is no different.  I’m not going to sit here an pretend the Warriors are poor on the road, because they’re not, but I do see them struggling to put away a team that is one of the hottest five teams in the league.  Look for the Wizards to lead with a balanced attack offensively and a defense that keeps pace until mid-way through the third quarter, before Golden State turns up the volume, and closes the gap by end of the third quarter, before pulling away in the fourth.  Mark it down.

Charlotte Hornets vs Boston Celtics OVER 208

I can totally see the Hornets winning this game by 30 points, 110-80 snatching a viable “under” bid.  I’ve seen it happen, and it’s happened to me, so if this game makes you nervous, you’re not alone.  I’m taking the over, especially with the Celtics playing at home and being as hot as they are.  In games the Celtics have played in at least 208 points have been scored in four of the last five.  The Celtics will hover right around the 110-point area in this one, but the Hornets are a bit more of an X-factor.  They have rolled out so many different lineups and battled injuries, it’s tough to attempt to predict what the Hornets offensive output will be.  I think if Kemba Walker and Nck Batum are both healthy and playing they should crack the century mark easily.  I like both lineups to score the basketball a lot in this one, so I’m letting the chips fall where they may.

Good luck gamers.
