MLB Odds: Yankees and Red Sox Open Series on Thursday

The age-old rivalry between the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox continues this Thursday when the AL East clubs face off at Yankee Stadium. Both Boston and New York have had up-and-down seasons thus far, with slow starts and lackluster performances from top players. Since their slow starts, both teams now appear to be back to true form and have recovered in the standings. This four-game series presents a good opportunity for the Red Sox to close their 6.5-game gap for top spot in the division.

Thursday’s contest will be a matchup between veteran lefties. For the Yankees, JA Happ will be on the mound. Happ is coming off of a solid performance over the Kansas City Royals, where he surrendered just three runs over six innings. But with a ballooned 5.09 ERA over 11 starts this season, Happ will be keen to build upon his last outing.

Boston will send two-time strikeout king Chris Sale to the bump. Sale struggled through the early part of the season, but finally won his first game on May 3 and has steadily improved throughout the month of May. Tune in for the 7:05 PM ET start, as this is sure to be an action-packed series.
